SMASH Advanced IV training arm

The SMASH Advanced Patient IV Training Arm was first introduced in 1986 to aid in the training, teaching and practice of IV administration. The latest enhancement to this “world class” standard offers realism in an elegant design. A micropump mounted in the simulator’s shoulder delivers automatically generated arterial pulses at the radial and brachial positions and controls arterial blood flow by allowing for variable heart rate and pulse strength. Interchangeable arterial and venous inserts in the forearm allow for the creation of arteriovenous (AV) fistulas and placement of AV grafts, while a simulated healed fistula insert provides a platform on which to perform hemodialysis exercises. An additional multi-layer insert in the biceps area can be used for incision and suture training exercises.

• Adjustable heart rate and pulse strength, simulating a heart rate from 10 beats/min to 150 beats/min

• Cephalic vein (antecubital vein), basilar vein, radial vein and ulnar vein as well as arteries in the elbow and upper arm for infusions and blood sampling.

• The rotatable arm allows dorsal and volar access along the entire length of the arm.
