Frequently asked questions about toilet aids

Raised toilet seat, commode or shower commode wheelchair – what is the difference?

A raised toilet seat fits on the existing toilet and makes the seat higher, so it is easier to sit down and stand up. A free-standing commode has a bucket under the seat and can be placed by the bed or wherever it is needed. A shower commode wheelchair or a transport chair with commode function has wheels, can be wheeled over the toilet and is used when someone else helps with the transfer.

How much weight can a commode take?

In this category the models have a maximum user weight of 100 to 294 kg. The raised toilet seat with lid takes 250 kg and the Maximus commode 294 kg. Use the Supports user weight filter above the list to see only models that take a certain weight.

Will the raised toilet seat fit my toilet?

According to the manufacturer, the raised toilet seat with flip-up armrests fits most toilets. Still, compare the dimensions on the product page with your toilet.

Can the commode be used in the shower?

Choose a shower commode chair or a shower commode wheelchair if it will be used in the shower.
