From puncture to catheter placement in one pad
The simulator provides training in the full sequence of central venous catheter insertion without interruption – from determining the insertion site and puncture to placement of the catheter, including the Seldinger technique. Both landmark and ultrasound-guided catheterisation can be practised in the same pad.
The pad is made of a low-friction, tissue-like material that allows the catheter to be inserted and removed repeatedly with few visible marks on the surface. The vein collapses realistically under the pressure of the ultrasound probe, and mechanical complications such as arterial puncture and pneumothorax can be simulated.
The pad shows the internal jugular vein and carotid artery, the subclavian vein and artery, the superior vena cava, ribs, sternum and lung. Due to its special material, the injection pad has a limited shelf life once it is unpacked.
